On June 7-10, 2017 the National Complex “Expocenter of Ukraine” in Kyiv hosted the XXIX-th International Agroindustrial Exhibition AGRO 2017. It has long become the principal agrarian platform of the country, but this time it has broken its own records in magnitude and representation hosting 1,248 participants at 27,000 sq. m and about 71,000 visitors. 15 world countries took part in the exhibition, including Ukraine, the USA, Canada, Great Britain, China, Italy, Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Austria, Spain, Turkey, Romania, India and Belarus.
During the years of its existence the exhibition has become extremely popular among the Kievans and metropolitan guests. “TD Promfininvest” LLC and “Agroexpo-group” LLC were the exhibition contractors. KUHN company, the world-renowned manufacturer of soil-cultivating equipment was AGRO 2017 General Partner and sponsor. “Jupiter 9 Agroservice” company was the exhibition special partner. “Propozitsiya” magazine was special information partner, while “Alexandrov and Partners” company was the legal partner. Agronews.ua was the main Internet partner and “Ukrposhta” was the postal-logistic partner.
The official opening ceremony took place on June 7, 2017 at 14:00 p.m. through mediation of Volodymyr B. Groisman, Prime Minister of Ukraine, and Maxim P. Martynyuk, First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
This is the second AGRO exhibition personally opened by V. Groisman. Prime Minister made time not only for the opening ceremony but also for walking around the exhibition, noting that “he was pleasantly impressed - we have great potential in agricultural sector”.
Extensive business program was interesting and diverse. Almost 50 forums, round tables and workshops discussed various issues of agrarian policy, export development, agribusiness legal protection, access to financing for small and medium-sized enterprises. Lots of workshops dealt with sectoral issues including organic agriculture, dairy farm management, small farms, precision farming, cultivation of garlic, grapes, hemp etc. “Everyone could find an interesting topic for himself”, - commented Olga Trofimtseva, Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food on European Integration who took part in a number of business events.
On June 9, 2017 AgTechForum was held for the second time within AGRO exhibition framework. Everyone interested was told about introduction of the latest high technology achievements in agriculture. This forum presented the Ukrainians’ success in the development of an unmanned aircraft (drone) for pesticide industrial application, the software for increasing sowing and harvesting accuracy, the remote monitoring technology of agricultural machinery and much more.
“It is the best platform for communication with like-minded people, scientists and agrarians”, - described the exhibition Natalia Khmyz, head of Lviv Region Agroindustrial Development Department. “Everything was, as always, at the highest level”, - added Mikhailo Malkov, FAO international consultant.
Like no other agrarian exhibition in Ukraine, AGRO 2017 provided the widest opportunities for communication between professionals, exchange of experience and familiarization with the range of novelties. The exhibition exposition covered without limitation all branches of agriculture. For example, as many as 12 specialized sectoral exhibitions were held in the framework of AGRO 2017.
“ExpoAgroTech” has become the largest among them, exhibiting hundreds of foreign and domestic agricultural machinery samples at the outdoor platforms. Maschio Gaspardo seeders, Gregoire Besson plows, Zeppelin and Quivogne machinery were among them. “Jupiter 9 Agroservice” company - the new John Deere dealer, the leading dealers of AMACO agricultural machinery, Agroalliance, Titan Machinery, Eridon-Tech, Volyn Stock Company, Technotorg, Astra and Deutsche AgrarTechnik companies introduced the most interesting samples of agricultural machinery from the world leading manufacturers - John Deere, Claas, Fendt, Amazone, Krone, Case, Challanger, etc.
Agricultural machinery domestic manufacturers were represented in full stock. “Kyi” tractor by “Ukravtozapchastyny” and “Slobozhanets” tractor by “Slobozhansky Industrial Company”, reapers under John Greaves brand made by Berdyansk agricultural machinery plant, plows by “Agra” and “Poligon” Odessa factories, seeders by Veles Agro and “Klen” companies, harrows, cultivators and other tilling units by Kherson machine-building plant, “Agromash” Krasnyansky JV, “Umanfermmash” and many other enterprises, sprayers and sweepers by “Lvivagromashproject”, tractor trailers and mineral fertilizer spreaders by Kobzarenko Plant, rotary tillers by “Motor Sich” company – they are only part of what the Ukrainian producers showed to agrarians. Equipment systems for grain storage facilities were presented by Oryhivsky plant “Agrotech”, Mogiliv-Podolsky machine-building plant, “Vinmashpostach” and the others. A wide range of spare parts was also offered to domestic agrarians.
“Crop Raising and Agrochemistry” specialized exhibition was another main focus. Huge producers of mineral fertilizers, such as “Dniproazot”, “EuroChem Ukraine” and the Swiss Omya also participated in it. However, such powerful modern trends as micronutrients and biological preparations were represented much broader. For example, “EM Ukraine” company for the first time introduced preparations to the Ukrainian market based on effective microorganisms from Japan, the country where they were first created. Czech company “Moravoseed” was the bright representative of breeding, coming up with a wide range of hybrids and varieties of popular vegetable crops for every taste. “Buchachagrohlibprom” offered seeds of the main grain crops, both of domestic and European breeding. Agro Canada introduced Canadian selection of soybeans. “Ukrainian Technical Hemp” Association presented all aspects of this crop application - from breeding and growing to product manufacturing using the hemp seeds and fibers to manufacture garments.
Exposition of pedigree cattle at “Animal’EX” specialized exhibition has long become the visiting card of AGRO exhibitions. This time, agrarians and ordinary Kievans could see bulls and cows of the famous Ukrainian breeds - meat, black-and-white, brown as well as foreign - Simmental, Aberdeen-Angus and Holstein. Next to them pedigree goats, sheep, poultry and rabbits were exhibited. The beauty of Animal’EX specialized exhibition were stud horses from domestic stud farms. They caused a lively interest among the small visitors, as many guests came to AGRO 2017 with children. At Animal’EX experts also examined the equipment for dairy cattle breeding by DeLaval, “Bratslavchanka” milking machine, veterinary preparations, etc. Software for farms was also offered here.
However, the focus of high technologies in agroindustrial business was “HiTechAgro” specialized exhibition. Its participants clearly demonstrated that agriculture was also keeping up with the times using precision agriculture technologies, drones, GPS technologies for remote monitoring of agricultural machinery, fields, operational and precise digital laboratory diagnostics. All top ranking guests at AGRO 2017 were pleased to note wide representation of domestic developments by AgroDrone, Drone.Ua, “Agri 2.0 Precision Agriculture” and others.
Another modern powerful trend was “Biofuel” specialized exhibition. Here, the exhibitors showed boilers and grain dryers which work on vegetable fuels - straw, wood chips, pellets, as well as the equipment to manufacture wood and straw pellets. Biogas and solar power plants were offered here.
One of the most attractive places at AGRO 2017 was the so-called organic series – “Organic” specialized exhibition. The greatest interest was caused by organic products (cheeses and other dairy products, sausages, cereals, juices, jams), which could be tasted and bought at the producers’ stands. The exposition of technologies for organic agriculture, in particular, pest and disease control (BTU Center, Center of Biotechnology) and organic fertilizers became unprecedented benchmarking.
“FishExpo” specialized exhibition made possible to meet the samples of industrial fish species - from ‘democratic’ carp to elite sterlet. Those who wished could also go fishing in the fountain, which at the time of the exhibition became a ‘home’ for live exhibits.
This year a new exposition of cutters and boats was presented. Well-known companies and brands, such as Hermanton, GRAND, "Losttoys Ukraine, Calibri, Adventure Land, Brig LTD, Kalina were the participants of this exposition.
Exposition of horse breeding was presented at a separate specialized exhibition “Equisvit”.
“AgroBuild-Expo” specialized exhibition combined companies offering construction and insulation technologies for industrial premises in agriculture - granaries, warehouses, hangars, vegetable and fruit storage facilities. The central place at “AgroTransport and Logistics” specialized exhibition was occupied by the market leading trucks (MAZ, Mercedes, Volvo, Ford, MAN), Toyota and Mitsubishi SUVs, passenger cars KIA, Mazda, Citroen, Subaru, Renault and commercial Lanos.
“Modern Farmer” specialized exhibition was lively trading goods required to sustain a small farm, including subsidiary one: seeds of vegetables and flowers, berry seedlings, garden tools, veterinary drugs and pesticides.
The most cozy part of the event was “EcoHouse” specialized exhibition which combined the best solutions for comfortable country life. The exhibition presented the best technologies of construction and maintenance for cottages, supply of autonomous heat, electricity, air conditioning and air purification.
AGRO 2017 exhibition has become extremely interesting not only for professionals who came here from all over Ukraine to make profitable trades (the first one was made on the opening day at 7:00 a.m.), get familiarized with product innovations and communicate with the colleagues either at the display stand or during the workshop. The exhibition has attracted many amateurs (cottage residents and home gardeners) who took the opportunity to buy something for farming. Moreover, it was a lively trade in local products from the regions, which could not be found in any Kyiv supermarket, embroidered clothes, souvenirs and craftsman products. Beekeepers have occupied an incredibly large area making available to buy any of their products: honey wines and kvass, propolis, pollen, royal jelly.
The next exhibition will become the 30-th one. On this anniversary occasion the organizers are planning new pleasant surprises for the visitors and special offers for the participants. We look forward to seeing you next summer.
Come again at AGRO 2018 to be scheduled at the National Complex “Expocenter of Ukraine” on June 6 - 9, 2018.
